Scottsdale, Ariz. (Dec. 19, 2012) -- Salt River Fields presents its first ever Street Eats, a festival featuring the gourmet food trucks of Arizona, and hosted by Food Network TV’s Tyler Florence, host of The Great Food Truck Race.  Street Eats is Sat., Jan. 14, 10am – 4pm.

Street Eats delivers the food truck movement to satiate local foodies, trend trackers and curiosity seekers alike. It all happens on the first day that 2012 Spring Training tickets go on sale as well and, as an added bonus, Spring Training ticket buyers will see free general admission to Street Eats.

Trend trackers will enjoy exploring the cuisine of approximately 25 of the area’s most sought-after food truck chefs whose kitchens-on-wheels will line the east side of the Salt River Fields complex, at the Center Field parking lot, offering sample-sized and full-sized portions of their most popular menu items.

“We are delighted to create Street Eats and deliver an exploration of food in an unusual style for residents and visitors,” said Dave Dunne, general manager, Salt River Fields.  “It gives everyone the chance to experience this hot movement in the food business, which surfaced partly because of the economy, but also because people are curious and discovering the food is fantastic,” added Dunne.

Street truck culture has evolved, providing top-notch cuisine while maintaining the edgy nostalgia of traditional street food. Most recently, the Food Network has spotlighted the food truck movement in its popular show hosted by Tyler Florence, The Great Food Truck Race. Florence has been a celebrated chef on the Food Network for 14 years.

Tickets.  This first-time event is also affordable. Tickets are only $10 and available at the door, online at www.SaltRiverFields.com or by phone 1.888.490.0383. At the event, guests can purchase $2 vouchers that act as currency with the featured food trucks. Each truck will offer sample-size and full-size portions of their specialties in exchange for Street Eats vouchers.

Spring Training Tickets First-Day On-Sale & Street Eats Offer. Eager baseball ticket buyers will receive exclusive FREE admission to Street Eats with a Spring Training ticket purchase at the Home Plate Box Office on the west side of Salt River Fields.  Ticket buyers will have access to the venue itself to traverse directly to the Center Field parking lot for their FREE entry with a ticket purchase.

Added Dunne: “Street Eats will highlight the best of the metro area’s food truck cuisine. Food truck menus are definitely not what they used to be. These trucks produce superlative food while on-the-go and in the constraints of a small kitchen. We hope all who attend Street Eats enjoy getting a taste of this extraordinary movement.”

Street Eats Entertainment.   The event will offer entertainment for the entire family, too, including live musical acts; food demonstrations by local chefs on the SubZero/Wolf Demonstration Stage; a vendor market; a bicycle demo area presented by Airpark Bikes; Hobby Action remote control car track; an interactive zone with bag games on the grass, and more.  A Kids Zone will be complete with jump houses, a zip line and sidewalk chalk-art area.

The Great Food Truck Race is in its second season, starring Florence. Eight food trucks compete for the grand price of $100,000. The trucks race across the country, stopping in a series of cities to share their creations with the public. Each episode the truck with the lowest sales is eliminated until the last truck is standing.

Salt River Fields.  Street Eats is another community event within the Talking Stick Entertainment District of world-class golf, professional athletic facilities & fields, prime shopping, and resort hotel & casino, owned and operated by the Salt River-Pima Maricopa Tribal Nations.  Salt River Fields, still in its premier season, raises the bar for major league baseball spring training facilities as well as venues for major community events throughout the year.   Surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountain panoramas in the world, SRF is emerging as the crown jewel of the spring training baseball season.   It is the Spring Training home to the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies.
